Albrecht Gehse, born on 19th January 1955,
comes from a Southern German family of artists.<\/p>

One of the great maternal ancestors of the family is Jacob Grimm, one of the Grimm Brothers. From the paternal side, there is a kinship to Dietrich Bonhoeffer ( executed in 1945 because of resistance to Hitler ) and R\u00fcdiger Schleicher (also executed in 1945 for the same reason, Freisler's last death sentence).\u00a0<\/p>

This is worth mentioning because the cultural and political climate of the family, as well as the break that was caused by the division of Germany (which meant a separation from the painter-grandfather), had quite a formative influence on the artistic development of A. Gehse.<\/p>

Albrecht Gehse grew up with 4 siblings, Angelika, Roberta, Marcus and Daniela.<\/p>

After completing an apprenticeship in Polygraphy he accomplished his military service, followed by the studies of Art from 1976-81 at the University of Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig.
Mayer-Foreyt und Harry Blume. Bernhard Heisig unterrichtet ihn in der Fachklasse f\u00fcr Malerei. Hier kn\u00fcpft er erste Kon\u00adtakte zu Wolfgang Peuker, Sieghard Gille, Arno Rink und Hartwig Ebersbach. Nach Abschluss des Studiums mit Diplom im Jahr 1981 beginnt Albrecht Gehse die frei\u00ad schaffende Arbeit in Leipzig, anfangs innerhalb der K\u00fcnstlergruppe 37,2, zu der u.a. Hans\u00ad Joachim Schulze, Hartwig Ebersbach, Wolfgang A. Scheffler und Trak Wendisch geh\u00f6ren. 1984 wird er Mitglied im Verband Bildender K\u00fcnstler der DDR und erh\u00e4lt im selben Jahr in der Ausstellung „Junge K\u00fcnstler der DDR- 1984“, die im Alten Museum der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin stattfindet, den Sonderpreis. 1984 Heirat mit Jenny Bla\u00dfkiewitz (Schei\u00addung 2004).<\/p>

Von 1987 bis 1990 ist Albrecht Gehse Meistersch\u00fcler an der Akademie der K\u00fcnste der DDR in Berlin bei Prof. Bernhard Heisig. ln dieser Zeit hat er auch Kontakte zu Werner T\u00fcbke. Albrecht Gehse arbeitet und lebt seit seinem Umzug von Leipzig im Jahr 1991 in Berlin-Tier\u00ad garten und Charlottenburg, sein Atelier befindet sich auf der Insel Eiswerder\/Spandauer See. 2002\/2003 malt Albrecht Gehse das Bildnis „Bundeskanzler a.D. Helmut Kohl“ f\u00fcr die Kanzlergalerie des Bundeskanzleramtes Berlin. Seit 2006 arbeitet Albrecht Gehse an dem Zyklus „Aufruhr – 50 Bilder \u00fcber die Welt“. 2008 Heirat mit Denisa Kurowska. Albrecht Gehse hat vier Kinder (Konrad, geb. 1980, Constatin, geb. 1982, Maya, geb. 1984, Ronja, geb. 1989).<\/p>

Albrecht Gehse participated in numerous national and international exhibitions but also had various solo exhibitions throughout the years.\n\nThere are a lot of books, catalogues, contributions on TV and reviews on his work.\n\nGehse won numerous prices, i. a. the Special Award of the exhibition \u201cYoung Artists in the GDR\u201d at Old Museum Berlin in 1984.\n\nThe works of Gehse, i. a. paintings related to buildings, can be found in museums, public collections, institutions, banks, insurance companies, churches, law offices as well as in large national and international private collections.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
